What is Short Term Auto Insurance ?

Traditional auto insurance policies are typically issued in six month spans. For most people, especially those that pay on a month to month basis, this is a very good thing as the price of the insurance is guaranteed to stay the same for at least half a year. There are many expenses, such as food, gas, and utility bills, that are extremely inconsistent, so it makes sense that most people would want some sort of consistency from what is likely to be one of their larger monthly payments.

What happens, though, when someone needs an insurance policy for less than six months? If there is no cancellation fee involved, they could always get a six month policy, pay for the first month, then cancel the policy. Although this might sometimes work, it still does not allow for even shorter periods of time, such as weeks, or even days. Doing this repeatedly can also cause an insurance provider to deny you coverage in the future, so unless you plan to keep it for six months, a shorter term policy is really ideal.

Short term auto insurance policies can span for as little as hours and as long as months, depending on what is needed by the driver. They are usually a little more expensive than traditional auto insurance policies on a per day basis, but avoid the additional cost of the rest of the month, or six months, if the insurance will not be needed for that long.

There are many situations in which short term insurance can be a much better idea than a full six month policy. For example, when renting a car, the car will need to be insured for the duration of the rental. Although most car rental companies do offer an in house insurance solution, they are often a lot more expensive than a third party short term insurance policy. This usually is only necessary, however, if the driver has no insurance at all, as most policies will cover the use of a rental car. Test driving personally owned used vehicles will also generally necessitate the use of a short term insurance policy.

If the owner of the vehicle in question has insurance on it, then short term insurance may not be necessary, but as it is up to the driver to make sure he is insured, it is often simpler to just have a short term policy that covers the driver.

There are two states in the U.S. that don’t require motorcycle insurance, and Florida is one of them (Washington is the other). You also don’t have to wear a helmet,* have a safety inspection, or even have turn signals on your motorcycle in Florida. Not only that, but this southern state is a great place to hit the open road with comfortable three-season riding and lots of riders to associate with.

Do I need motorcycle insurance in Florida?

All that being said, it’s still a really good idea (and highly recommended) that you carry at least a minimum of insurance coverage as a motorcycle rider.
The no-fault or PIP insurance coverage law in Florida does not apply to motorcycle drivers. So, while the victims of an accident in a car have 80% of their medical bills and 60% of their lost wages covered through PIP, no matter who is at fault, motorcycle drivers have no such coverage.

However, if motorcycle drivers are involved in a crash, Florida’s Financial Responsibility laws do apply. This means that you are personally responsible, by law, for any damage to people or property you cause with your bike. That’s why it’s a good idea to have motorcycle insurance even though it’s not required in Florida.

How much coverage do I need?

The minimums required by Florida state law for auto insurance are a good guide to help you decide how much motorcycle insurance to carry.
Minimum insurance coverage requirements as stated in Florida’s Financial Responsibility Law:

Bodily Injury liability: $10,000 per person, $20,000 per crash

Property Damage Liability: $10,000 per crash

Personal Injury Protection: $10,000 per person per crash

Note that since motorcycle drivers are so exposed to injury in an accident, their injuries are often much worse than those experienced by people in a car in a similar accident. It’s a good idea to increase your bodily injury coverage. Also, for the same reason, consider higher limits of uninsured motorist coverage, because if an uninsured motorist hits you, you may have to pick up the whole tab.

Finding cheap motorcycle insurance in Florida:

The best way to find any cheap insurance is to shop around, and the best way to shop around for motorcycle insurance is online. You can find many sites that will offer you multiple quotes after you fill out a short form.
Because motorcycle insurance is not required by law, it is also not regulated by law, so read the fine print carefully and make sure you are getting the coverage you need.

*Note: You must wear a helmet if you are under 21 or do not have $10,000 in medical insurance.

The best way to buy any insurance, including business insurance is to shop around, get several quotes (at least three), compare those and then go with the best coverage for your personal situation you can afford. It’s certainly not rocket science, and gratefully the internet has made the process of getting and comparing free business insurance quotes much faster and easier.

To get a business general liability insurance quote you simply need to get online and start filling out quote request forms on various websites. Many sites will provide you with quotes from several insurance companies, making your job even easier. Sometimes you will get a quote returned almost instantly, other times you will be contacted by an insurance agency with the quote or with questions that need to be answered before a quote can be issued.

Before you buy a policy or before you are contacted to answer further questions, arm yourself with information so you’ll be prepared to make the best decision for your company.

What you’ll need to obtain a quote:

Different insurance companies will have different informational requirements, but most generally want the following information. Be as honest and as detailed as you can be for this will allow the insurance company to best judge the coverage and limits you’ll need to protect your business.

Type of company and EIN

List of company owners/officers

Number of employees including how many are full or part time

Information about the subcontractors and/or consultants you use

Annual sales and payroll

Your revenue history and projections.

Prior liability claims

Copy of your current policy

Details of any products you manufacture

The size and location of your current retail space

Once you have at least three quotes, you’ll need to compare them to discover which is best for your business. The cheapest policy is not always the best policy. The best way to compare policies is to look at the coverage limits and then the policy itself—what and who is covered and what and who is not.

If you are at all daunted by the task of reading through insurance quotes, be sure to get help from someone who knows about business liability insurance quotes. Be as open and honest with that person about your business so he/she can really help you get the coverage you need.

Finally, before selecting an insurance company to go with, check their financial standing. Standard and Poor’s or AM Best rate insurance companies by their financial stability; you can find their ratings online. Talk to other people insured by your potential company and find out how accessible their company is when they need help or have a claim to process. After all, if you’re putting your business in the insurance company’s hands, make sure they will be there and are strong enough to support you when you need them.

Car insurance is the law in all 50 states and most developed countries around the world. Even if you’re only driving a vehicle temporarily, you need some temporary car insurance. If you’re driving someone else’s vehicle for a short time and you don’t want to be on their insurance, you’ll need temporary car insurance. If you have a stored vehicle that you only need to drive every once in a while, you’ll need temporary car insurance. That temporary car insurance is a reality now, and offered by many companies in many states of the US, it’s called short term car insurance. You can also get short term car insurance in the UK and other places you may be traveling.

Short term car insurance is a real convenience for many people who just need a short bit of coverage. With short term car insurance coverage, you can choose anywhere from 1 day to 6 months coverage. The coverage is not limited though, only the time period; you can still get full coverage or just liability. Medical coverage is also offered, just like a long term policy. You can often get roadside assistance too.

Paying for a short term car insurance policy varies; you may make a flat payment or you may make monthly payments. It generally costs a bit more than regular auto coverage, but would surely be worth it if you wrecked the vehicle you were borrowing from a friend, or had an uninsured vehicle damaged in a hurricane.

The best way to find cheap short term car insurance is to get a lot of quotes. You can do this easily on the internet where you can find and fill out several quote requests in a matter of minutes. Often you get immediate quotes back and can have them to compare.

Before buying any insurance policy, make sure to check out the financial stability of the insurance company you are considering. You can find insurance company ratings on and off line as well as information about their claims handling record. Check with your state’s department of insurance (you can also do this online) to check out a particular agent’s record as well. After all, if you’re taking the time to purchase the short term insurance, make sure you’re getting good coverage from a stable company.

As a contractor, whether commercial or residential, you already know you have a potentially dangerous job and a lot is riding on your skills. As good as you are, make sure you have the proper insurance coverage in place to protect yourself, your business, and your clients. One of those coverages is Contractors liability Insurance. Like any liability coverage, contractors liability insurance protects you from the many liability exposures you face in your line of work.

Most states, if not all, require a contractor to carry this insurance. You can give bids without the coverage, but you cannot legally start work until you have this type of policy in place and an original certificate of insurance in the general contractor’s or owner’s possession. Your employees should be covered by your contractor general liability insurance, but any subcontractors you work with need their own liability coverage.

The premium for any liability coverage depends on the how much coverage the policy holder opts to carry, ($1,2, or 3 million or more), their gross receipts, and/or employee payroll. The internet makes it easy to compare quotes and coverages. You can usually get a quote much sooner by applying online, and you’re under no obligation to buy. Get several quotes to find the best insurance for you and your company.

To obtain a contractor liability insurance quote, you’ll need some information. Have these ready:

Contractor license number

Company type (corporation, sole proprietorship, LLC, joint venture, etc)

Years of experience

A description of all the work you will perform as a contractor and all the work you will subcontract

The percentage of residential and commercial work you do

Number of full time and part time employees

Annual payroll (not including owners or clerical workers, subcontracting costs, and gross sales

If you’ve had any claims in the last 3 years

Who your current carrier is and when that policy expires

Before you buy any insurance policy, check out the company. Insurance companies are rated by their financial stability. You can find reports on and off line about the stability of any insurance company. Go with a higher rated company. Another thing you want to find out is how long it takes to process a request for an insurance certificate. You often cannot start work on a project until the owner or general contractor has that original certificate in hand, so when time is money, you do not want your insurance company to be slowing you down. It is not unreasonable to expect same day service on these certificates.

Finally, make sure you understand your policy, what it covers, and what is required of you. If you do not have an insurance agent, It is worth it to pay an expert to explain the policy to you.
