Muscle Car Insurance

Not all cars are cheap and easy to insure.  In fact, here at cheap car insurance network, we recommend against buying some cars (fast and expensive cars), simply because there is no cheap insurance for them.  So, where does that leave the muscle car enthusiast?  Someone who has spent countless hours, blood, sweat, tears and money on his (or her) passion for the speed and attitude of the classic muscle car needs insurance as much as the rest of us, the question is where to find it.

Muscle car insurance can be difficult to find.  Not all insurance companies want to deal with older cars that have been restored, modified, and souped up.  These cars don’t fit the insurance company’s mold, they’re hard to value and repairs tend to be difficult to estimate. Thankfully the internet has allowed everyone, including muscle car owners access to a much wider variety of insurance than we previously had.

So, if you’re looking for muscle car auto insurance, the first place to check is with your current insurance.  They just might have a policy that will fit your situation and they’ll probably offer you a multiple policy discount as well.  Super.  If your current insurance is not an option, then it’s time to look at specialty auto insurance for your muscle or classic car.  Many companies exist just for this purpose, and you’ll find at least a few cheap muscle car insurance quotes on the internet.

Just as with any insurance quotes, you’ll want to look them over and compare prices and coverage.  Here are some points to make special note of in any muscle car insurance policy:

  1. How the insurer determines the value of your classic car: you want a stated value where you can tell the company how much you want to insure the car for.  Restored cars do not fit into insurance companies’ depreciation tables.
  2. Annual mileage limit:  Many classic car insurance policies only cover trips to and from car shows, and those can be limited.  Look for a pleasure miles option which allows you to take the car out for an occasional pleasure ride.  Note: the fewer miles you are limited to, the lower your premium will be.
  3. Storage Requirements: since your muscle car will probably spend a lot of time sitting and not driving, many companies stipulate where your car can be stored.  Note: the more secure your storage facility, the lower your premium will be.
  4. Deductible: classic car deductibles work just like regular car insurance deductibles—if you make a claim, you will have to pay the amount up to your deductible and then insurance will cover the rest.  Note: for cheaper insurance, choose a higher deductible.
  5. Times of no coverage: many companies will not cover the car during a timed or racing event.  For coverage during these, you’ll need to look for even more specialized insurance.
